چکیده

Abstract In cross-country skiing, velocities range from 2 m $${\textrm{s}}^{-1}$$ s - 1 up to more than 20 across undulating terrain, and aerodynamics can, therefore, make a large impact on performance. The aim of this study was investigate the influence skiing velocity air drag for skating sub-techniques downhill postures (tuck). Dynamic static measurements two athletes were performed in wind tunnel relevant ranges each sub-technique. area decreased with around 10–12 , where it plateaued. No difference found between upright (G2–G4) thereby relatively similar frontal areas. G5 sub-technique without poling action lower posture, reduced approximately 28% G2–G4 at velocities, could even be by an additional 21.7% keeping arms tucked front body. postures, reduce 23% low tuck, compared high tuck straight legs. tested both dynamically averaging positions throughout movements. average 6.1% dynamic movements, indicating that dynamical movements like should when evaluating drag. Finally, chosen cycle rate had minimal

Kinematics of sprint cross-country skiing

The purpose of our study was to characterise the diagonal stride locomotion during a new short sprint race in cross-country skiing. Thirty male cross-country skiers were sagittaly filmed on an uphill portion of the 1.2-km classic race of the world cup (2004) using a digital camera. The main body joints, skis and poles were digitised frame by frame. Results indicated higher SV and SR for similar...

Performance diagnostic in cross-country skiing

Purpose. recreational cross-country skiers can benefit from a performance diagnostic when planning a training program. The aim of this study was to establish a simple test protocol to measure endurance capacity and provide training recommendations. Methods. The relationship between endurance performance and cross-country skiing technique was assessed using two tests. First, a lactate threshold ...

Applied physiology of cross-country skiing.

Cross-country ski racing has evolved rapidly in recent years. Of particular interest has been the development and proliferation of the faster freestyle or skating techniques. In spite of changes in technique and equipment, the fact that elite cross-country ski racers have some of the highest aerobic power values reported for endurance athletes has not changed. Successful ski racers have higher ...

Overuse injuries in cross-country skiing.

Cross-country skiing has always been one of the most popular winter sports in Scandinavia (Eriksson, 1976). Although downhill skiing has become more and more popular during the last ten years, cross-country skiing is still the most important mass sport in Finland. The number of competitive skiers has been increasing owing to the fact that the younger age groups as well as the veteran series hav...
